Policy 5205 - School Crosswalk Guards/Patrols

The safety of pupils travelling to and from school is a major concern of the Surrey Board of Education. To this end, management may, where warranted and feasible, engage the services of adult school crosswalk guards or authorize the establishment of pupil or adult volunteer crosswalk patrols where:
a) 
A clear and significant hazard to the safety of pupils exists due to traffic volume, the nature of the intersection or crossing, or other circumstances has been demonstrated. 
b) 
A request has been properly made and processed through procedures established for this purpose. 
c)
No other body or agency is responsible for providing the necessary crosswalk protection.
